Chitwan, Nepal – The Training on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), organized by the Nepal Agricultural Cooperative Central Federation Ltd. (NACCFL), officially commenced on November 23, 2024, at the Training and Research Center in Tarauli, Chitwan. The program will run until November 25, 2024. The inauguration ceremony was chaired by Mr. Khem Bahadur Pathak, President of NACCFL, with Hon. Prakash Shrestha, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development of Bagmati Province, serving as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural speech, Minister Shrestha underscored the significance of collaboration between the central federation and province government to foster the growth of agricultural businesses . He further assured that the provincial government is committed to securing the necessary funding to support such initiatives. Shrestha also emphasized the agricultural potential of Bagmati Province and expressed the government's willingness to work closely with NACCFL to boost agricultural development. Additionally, he committed plans to launch campaigns aimed at the upliftment of agricultural businesses and the allocation of grants for commercialization. Chairperson Pathak spoke about the positive impact of the training program, highlighting how it would assist small farmers affiliated with cooperatives in improving grading, packaging, and marketing of their products. This is an important initiative to enhance the skills of farmers and improve the value chain in agriculture. A total of 31 participants from eight districts are taking part in the training, marking an important step forward in enhancing agricultural practices and promoting agribusiness in the region. This program is expected to equip participants with essential skills that will contribute to the professionalization and commercialization of Nepal's agricultural sector, ultimately benefiting small farmers across the country.
